A woman with long brown hair and light skin smiling, wearing a pink and white striped shirt, turquoise earrings, and a purple pendant necklace, standing in front of a decorative wall art made of intertwined black, orange, and wooden elements.

Hi! My name is Tamar Guse, I’m a basket weaver and sculptor, weaving up a storm in my workshop in North Canterbury, New Zealand.

As I grew up in New Zealand, I have had the opportunity to explore various art forms over the years. Among all of them, Fibre Art has always captured my imagination with its unique texture, distinctive form and endless possibilities for creation. My artwork is heavily inspired by nature, and I love incorporating natural elements such as driftwood, vines and antlers into it. While traditional baskets are good for practising technique, my true passion is weaving sculptural forms that echo the environment around me.

My Story.
