Tamar Guse is a New Zealand basket maker, fibre artist and willow weaving tutor with a passion for traditional craftsmanship, natural materials and the endless possibilities of weaving.

With over 12 years of weaving experience and 8 years of teaching, Tamar creates functional baskets and sculptural pieces that celebrate the beauty, versatility and character of natural fibres. Her work is inspired by traditional basketry techniques, the natural world and the simple pleasure of making something by hand.

Tamar teaches willow weaving workshops throughout New Zealand, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with beginners and experienced makers alike. Her relaxed, hands-on teaching style encourages students to slow down, explore their creativity and discover the satisfaction of working with this beautiful, renewable material.

Alongside her weaving practice and teaching, Tamar is establishing Amberley Willow Farm in North Canterbury, where she is growing willow to use in her own work and workshops. This new venture reflects her commitment to working more sustainably and reconnecting the craft of basketry with the land and the materials from which it begins.

Through her work, teaching and growing willow farm, Tamar hopes to inspire more people to discover the joy of weaving, appreciate traditional craft and embrace the beauty of handmade objects.
